Everyone gets stressed now and then. But when stress becomes a constant presence in your life it can wreak havoc with your health, your immune system, your work performance and your relationships. Reducing the load of stress in your life is essential if you are to get any pleasure and purpose from your existence. Stress left unattended feeds anxiety and addictive cravings and makes for snappy exchanges with your loved ones. Read on for 5 quick and easy ways to shrug of stress and rediscover your lighter side: 1. Guided Relaxation Let someone else lift your load, settle back and listen to a guided relaxation. You could Google "guided relaxation", or try the iTunes podcast directory for audio transportation to a place of calm. 2. Blow it all Away Discover some simple breathing exercises to relax your body and give your brain a break. Try counting your breaths by breathing deeply and steadily and then counting your out breaths from 1 to 5 and then beginning again when you reach 5. Gradually slow and deepen your breath and keep counting until you have completed to cycle 4 times. That’s a total of 20 slow deep focused breaths. Guaranteed to give you a break from stress, and useful for reducing anxiety too. 3. Walk your Worries Away Walking is still one of the easiest and most beneficial ways to give yourself a break from stress. Burn of adrenaline, stretch and relax your muscles, and allow your mind to mull things over and get clear and calm as you wander through woods, a park, or even round the block. 4. Hypnosis Hypnosis can be a deeply relaxing experience. Listen out for a voice that soothes you and let yourself drift into a place of peace and restful calm… 5. Try Meditation Get some feel-good brain chemicals floating through your veins by investing a few minutes each day in meditation. Just find one simple technique that appeals to you and try it for just 10 minutes a day, within just a few days you will notice a difference, and there’s a good chance your friends and family will too!
